Wire Wrapping Attaching Fine Chain to Clasp Without Soldering

Easy DIY Jewelry Tutorial : Wire Wrapping Loops

I have this quick video showing you how to attach a fine link chain to a clasp, without welding or soldering. By wire wrapping figure 8 style loops, you can attach them as securely as if they had been soldered.

First chose the wire that can go through the chain, I am using 24ga FW0YS. Simply wrap one loop, slide the chain into the loop before closing the loop with multiple wraps, thus locking the chain inside the loop. Trim excess wire. Do the same on the other end of the chain. Make a loop, slide the clasp or soldered ring into the loop before wrapping the loop closed. The effect of the figure 8 wire wrapping is a tiny bow tie. Trim and straighten.

Tip – make the loops as closely together as possible when wire wrapping. Allow for just enough room for the wraps, which should meet together without any gap for optimal smoothness.
