Welding is Easy – First Time Welding Permanent Jewelry with Orion Micro Welder mPulse

I want to share this video with you because many people are interested in starting a permanent jewelry business. They have written and asked how hard it is to master and whether they should get one-on-one lessons.

I documented my friend Heather’s first time welding on the Orion Micro Welder.  She is a portfolio manager with no jewelry soldering or welding experience. Heather wanted to weld some jump rings closed on the clasp of a bracelet she had made.

Since Heather has no experience with it, I figured you might find it interesting. It may address some of the viewers’ concerns!

The first jump ring she welded was 20ga sterling silver and was perfectly successful on the first try at 7.5w. The second jump ring was 18ga and the ring could break open, with force, at 7.5w.

It could have been a combination of lack of power to penetrate through the thicker metal and perhaps her hands had moved a bit.  When we increased the power to 10w, the ring welded securely without any problems.

She had a bit of advice to give at the end of the video.  I hope you enjoy this – let me know what you think. Permanent jewelry is achievable.
