Permanent Jewelry with Orion Micro Welder
In this video I show some tricks of fine tuning your welding control by adjusting the power setting. Also by adjusting the electrode of the Orion Micro Welder. This is especially important when welding permanent jewelry, which requires connections of fine jump rings.
To give a good visual demonstration, I zap a sheet of silver at different power setting. I compare the effects of using a sharp (new electrode). One that is dulled (through use and also dulled on purpose) and to one on a completely flat electrode.
This last tip is something that is recommended by Sunstone Engineers, makers of the Orion Micro Welder. This is relavent for those who struggle with too much power even at the lowest setting.
I also demonstrate that argon gas does not completely eliminate oxidation (fire scale). This is much more visible on a flat sheet than on a jump ring or small surface. However, this is easily removed with an eraser (or a fiberglass bristle brush).
