HOW TO USE: A great solution for setting irregular stones. Hold the stone down in place in the midst of the prongs. Using the side of a pair of pliers or metal object, push each prong closer around the stone, starting from the bottom. It is best to work on each prong a little bit, rotating them, so that they are evenly tightened while the stone is kept in place. After you have closed the prongs, almost completely, trim the prongs as you wish. Often the stone is irregular in shape and you have prongs that seem shorter. The final trim makes them visually even and attractive. You can then file the prongs to a point, by filing the sides, or rounded before the final closing. A loop is created at the top for attaching earring hooks directly to it. For a necklace pendant, simply add a jumpring.
The maximum size for a round bead is 8mm, or oval 7x9mm x (2mm high), or disc 10mm x (2mm high).
