Longevity Of A Permanent Gold Filled Bracelet – How Long Permanent Jewelry Lasts – Documented

I will show you my video that documents the longevity of my daughter’s permanent bracelet. My 11 year old daughter’s permanent gold filled bracelet finally broke after 7 months of love and rough wear.

Frankly I’m surprised it stayed on this long because she is such a tomboy – 6 weeks of sailing summer camp, mountain biking, hiking, swimming in the lake and salt water pool, and on the swim team in the fall school term.  It finally got caught on a handle, snagged and broke.

Many people ask what the expected longevity of a permanent bracelet is?  So, I’ve documented the life of the well loved Bracelet, with checks at 1 and 3 months as well.  I would imagine that the identical bracelet on an adult, or a child who is more careful, could really last years of normal wear.

Interesting that it broke at one of the links and not where I had welded the jump ring.  I had used 7.5w power and welded it with the Orion Micro Welder mPulse model, with a 24ga 3mm jump ring.

The tarnish is minimal – just slightly darker when you compare side by side with a new chain.  I have also compared it to my own bracelet that I had welded 5 months ago.

The components I used:

Her gold filled paper clip chain made in USA (online product code CE01G)

My bracelet chain also gold filled made in USA (CE02G)

Jump ring gold filled 3mm 24 ga made in USA (FJ12G)
