Here is how I made these earrings using the Amoracast Modern Hook and 2 mm rainbow moonstone beads.
Start with 26 gauge wire – and actually the longer the better. Thread all of the beads and hold at the bottom using one hand (and actually it’s better with a pair of pliers) to wrap the bottom end of the wire as tightly as possible onto the hook. Then a trim. You could use a pair of pliers to pinch it a little so that it will not slip.
Now holding onto the bead, wrap the top around it, shifting the bead one bead at a time. You could wrap around twice before each bead – it’s a matter of preference and how much space you want. Each time, you want to be adjusting a little bit. Make sure it is tight (as tightly as possible) pulling on it, and shift the beads as you go. At the very end, take a pair of pliers and pull on it, wrapping tightly. Make sure it is tight and push it to make sure it’s compact as well. Then trim.
Using the pliers, tap on it, to make sure that it is tucked in and that it isn’t sharp. (Tip – if your pliers are sharp, you can wrap some masking tape or electrical tape around it to protect your hook from scratches). Then we are ready to add on the drop.
