How To Prevent Stuck Electrode – Permanent Jewelry Welding with the Orion Micro Welder mPulse

I made this video in response to a question posed in the comments of another video. The person was having trouble where the electrode was getting stuck to the jump ring that they are trying to weld.

Note that all of the models of Orion Micro Welders have a built in system where, instantaneously after it shoots the electricity, the electrode retracts a few millimeters. This is to prevent the electrode getting stuck to the metal as it fuses together.

I had experienced this a few times myself when I first started welding. As I demonstrate in the video, this can happen when I push against the metal really hard. I had the tendency to do this in the beginning as I was nervous and eager for a solid weld. I was pushing hard and holding the electrode down against the metal.

It is a frequent rookie mistake. The Orion micro welders are designed to be easy welding – they are powerful, but you can control the power setting. All it requires is a light touch and does not need wrangling like I was doing at the beginning.

I hope this helps.  It’s been a long time since I did that. I have forgotten about this little problem I was having.  Thank you for the question – it reminded me of this and perhaps others found it useful??  Feel free to let me know what you think and also add video suggestions in the comments.  I read all the comments myself and they really help give me ideas.
