Jewelry Hack – Turning Head Pins Into Stud Earrings

Jewelry Hack – Turning Head Pins Into Stud Earrings

Perfect for both beginners and seasoned designers .

To make these studs you are going to need the following:

1. Pins in 20 or 22ga

2.  Wire Cutters

3. A file or Sand Paper

Here is a jewelry hack – turn your fancy head pins into stud earrings. If you have some unusual head pins that you don’t know what to do with, you can cut them shorter and use them as stud earrings. The ideal thickness is 20 gauge but 22 gauge will work, too.

If your head pins are thinner, then you should try to use clutches (the stoppers at the back) that are made of silicone because they will grip more securely. The usual length is about 12mm long for the pin. You can make them shorter or longer, depending on the thickness of the earlobe and comfort level.

Be sure to file the post smooth, once you cut – you can do this simply with a file or sand paper and the finer the grit, the smoother it will be, and the more comfortable to wear.

Added tip – try wire wrapping drops and threading them with the stud before putting into the ear – now you have drop style of stud earrings.
