If you want to engrave on both sides of the blanks?
The thickness of the engraving blanks does not matter for laser engraving, unlike for hand stamping. This is because, for hand stamping, when the blank is thin, the metal will warp when struck with force.
There is a slight difference for diamond tip and traditional knife engraving, which is much deeper and has a V-shaped groove.
Gauge Thickness Chart
Anything thicker than 28 gauge (0.33mm) is engravable. If you are hoping to laser engrave very deeply on both sides, I would advise 24ga (0.5mm).
Engraving blanks 22 gauge (0.65mm) and thicker are luxurious because they have a significant weight to them, however, those become expensive for precious metals in larger sizes.
A reminder for engraving different thicknesses: please make sure the engraver is focused to the appropriate height, in order to avoid blurry or light engraving results.
